I have always enjoyed sewing, and first stitched on my grandmother's Singer treadle macine. I made ill fitting doll clothes from fabric scraps with no pattern. After that stage, I didn't sew any more until my daughter started kindergarten. When she became engaged, she reminded me of a promise I made to her when she was a little girl. In 1998, in keeping with that promise, I made her wedding dress. This time I had a pattern, and had just invested in what was to be my first Bernina! I have since traded up several times.
In 2004, I retired from Holston Valley Hospital where I worked for 20+ years as an RN in the neonatal ICU. This gave me the time to begin sewing again.
I have been blessed with 7 grandchildren, 4 are little girls. Guess what my passion has been for the past 9 years? You're right, sewing for these little girls! They love it and so do I. Three of the girls now have American Girl dolls, and of course they need matching outfits. I recently bought my 'little girls' a Bernina 210. Iw ant them to learn to sew, and wanted them to have a quality machine to start with.
Bernina in Stitches has fabric and patterns for both the girls and their dolls. Working part-time with the ladies there is a pleasure, and I continue to learn from them.
